April 16: Chromebook Repairs
**IMPORTANT** Please fill out the form BEFORE you arrive so we can have loaner devices ready.
NCSC Device Repair Form: https://forms.gle/dDNbcjxbgpsmp31F9
While school is closed, we understand that your student may still experience issues with their Chromebook. NCSC will provide a drive up help desk to help with these issues. If your device cannot be fixed onsite, a loaner device will be provided to your student while his/her device is being serviced. Once your student’s device has been repaired, you will be contacted by phone and may pick up the device on the following Monday. Please note, average repair times are between 1 and 2 weeks as most service work is done by the manufacturer.
When: Every Monday through May 18th from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM
Where: Hagerstown Elementary School – Main Entrance
When you arrive, please stay in your vehicle and a tech will come out and assist you.

April 7: UPDATE Nettle Creek Meals Program, Dr. Barrentine
We had a great day serving the community with a week’s worth of breakfast and lunch. Due to the response and the rules changing (for the better), we are going to add 3 more locations throughout our district where you can pick up your meals for the week. The 5 locations are:
Hagerstown Elementary School (299 N. Sycamore Street)
Jacksonburg Christian Church (12210 Jacksonburg Road)
Greens Fork Community Center (117 E. Pearl Street)
Economy Lions Club (11150 US-35)
Millville Fire Barn (486 S. Wilbur Wright Road)
Each of these locations will be distributing food each Monday (through May 18) from 11:30-1:00. In order to have the best experience for you, please complete the order form linked below. Even if you already completed this form for last week, I still need you to complete it again. I want to make sure it is as accurate as possible.
If you know that someone needs meals but can’t access the form, please just share the link with them.
If this time or the locations don’t work for you, please reach out to me and let me know so that we can make arrangements. Have a great rest of the week!
Go Tigers!
Respectfully,
Dr. Kyle G. Barrentine
April 2: E-Learning Schedule Update, Dr. Barrentine
With Dr. McCormick’s announcement today, I wanted to touch base with you regarding our plan
moving forward. With the 160-day requirement set forth by the state, we do need to alter our eLearning plan just a little bit. Here is our learning plan:
April 21-22-23-24: eLearning Days (Friday added)
April 28-29-30: eLearning Days
May 5-6-7-8: eLearning Days (Friday added)
May 12-13-14: eLearning Days
May 19-20-21: eLearning Days
As I’ve stated previously, our students and our parents are our partners in this plan. We need everyone to come together to interact with each other, to ask questions, and to continue making progress academically. Communication, grace, and flexibility will be key as we move through
this together!
Please know that we will be working on a firm plan as it relates to end-of-year procedures, graduation, scheduling for next year, summer school, etc. Since this situation is incredibly fluid,
I don’t want to share a plan before we know more information. We seem to learn new information each day!
We will also extend our meal plan through the end of the school year. A lot of the school meals ‘rules’ are being change daily as well, so we will do the maximum that we’re allowed based on those rules.
If you have any questions, concerns, or need anything, please reach out to your teacher, your principal, or me. Communication. Grace. Flexibility.

April 1: Breakfast and Lunch Distribution, Dr. Barrentine
Nettle Creek Schools will be providing meals at two locations every Monday in April. These meals will include five breakfasts and five lunches per child. Any child 18 years and younger can participate in this program. You do not need to qualify for free or reduced meals to participate. The two locations are Hagerstown Elementary School and Jacksonburg Christian Church.
Please complete the form linked below so that we can plan accordingly to know approximately how many meals we will need at each location. Meals will be served on a first come-first served basis from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. each Monday in April.
If you are unable to make it to either of the locations, please send me an email so that we can help you.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time. Be safe and Go Tigers!
March 19: Letter from Superintendent, Dr. Barrentine
Dear Tiger Families:
I hope everyone is managing the crazy circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. At his 1:00 p.m. news conference today, Governor Holcomb announced the following:
• Schools are to remain closed through Friday, May 1, 2020.
• All state testing is canceled for this school year.
• There has been (as of now) no information from the IHSAA regarding Spring sports.
As a result of that announcement, below is how we are going to handle our weeks moving forward beginning with April 13:

I really need all of you to be completing your eLearning Day assignments as they come to you. I realize this is a really unusual way of learning. However, in order to earn credits, we will have to be able to document your participation in the class. Please don’t wait until the last minute to complete assignments as teachers are often using that data to determine next steps instructionally.
If you are having difficulty, please reach out to your teachers and seek help. They are available and here to help!
We will continue with our food distribution program at HES through Tuesday, March 24.
During Spring Break, please see the food distribution schedule.
Beginning Monday, April 6 (and continuing on weekdays through May 1), we plan to have three distribution sites for food. More info on that to come after Spring Break.
If you have any special needs, please email Dr. Barrentine directly.
Go Tigers!
Respectfully,
Dr. Kyle G. Barrentine

March 13: Letter from Superintendent, Dr. Barrentine
Dear Tiger Families:
In light of the recent announcement from Governor Holcomb, Nettle Creek Schools will be closed beginning Monday, March 16th. The schedule will be:
• March 16-20 will be eLearning Days.
• March 23-24 will be eLearning Days.
• March 25-27 and March 30-April 3 is Spring Break.
• For April 6-10, we will utilize part of the waiver days that Governor Holcomb provided.
After the end of school today all school campuses will be closed to students and non-essential employees until Monday, April 13. School is scheduled to resume on April 13th.
All evening events have been canceled or postponed throughout the duration of school being closed. Information about individual events being rescheduled will be sent out by building principals, the AD, or club/team sponsors.
There will be no athletic events or activities while school is not in session. These activities will commence once school resumes. Students will not be allowed on campus once school closes today and until April 13th.
Students in grades 6-12 are bringing their Chromebooks home.
We are working on a plan so that students in grades 3-4-5 will also be bringing home a device. Students in grades K-1-2 will bring learning activities that can be completed at home.
During eLearning Days, teachers will be available via email.
Please understand that this is a new experience for everyone. There will be bumps along the way, and we will work through them TOGETHER.
We are working with Chartwells to provide grab and go lunch for students during the eLearning Days. More information about this will be coming soon.
If you have medication at the school and need to get it picked up, you may do that up until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, March 16. If this time doesn’t work, please contact our nurse, Katie Bymaster, to set up a time.
Teachers and administrators will be available while school is not in session. The best method of contacting them will be by email. You can also call each building, but you will have to leave a voice message. (Hagerstown Jr.-Sr. HS- 765-489-4511; Hagerstown Elementary School 765-489-4555). Messages will be checked regularly throughout the day and calls will be returned as soon as possible. This is a very fluid situation with circumstances changing quickly. We will keep you posted as the situation dictates.
