Special Education
Hagerstown Jr. Sr. High provides special education services to students with disabilities in grades 7-12.
About the Program
Before services can be offered, a student must receive a comprehensive evaluation and meet specific criteria set forth by Indiana law. This process can potentially identify one or more of the following disabilities:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Blind or low vision
- Deaf or hard of hearing
- Emotional Disability
- Language or Speech Impairment
- Cognitive Disability
- Multiple Disabilities
- Other Health Impairment
- Specific Learning Disability
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Orthopedic Impairment
Students may receive a variety of therapies at HJSHS:
- Speech and Language
- Adaptive Physical Education
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Vision
Nettle Creek School Corporation is part of the New Castle Area Special Services cooperative, which provides administrative services for our special education programs. While most of our special education staff are Nettle Creek employees, some of our special education teachers and therapists are employed by New Castle. Our students receive all special education services on-site at HES.
