2012 Inductee – Chester “Chet” Lamb
Chester “Chet” Lamb graduated from Economy High School in 1939 as a three sport standout in baseball, basketball, and track. Chet earned three letters in baseball, and pitched three no-hitters in 1939, losing only one game that season. Offered a contact with Cincinnati’s farm team in Oklahoma, Chet’s baseball career was interrupted by three years and three months of service in the Navy during WW II. After the war Mr. Lamb played in the local Industrial League, winning three championships with the NATCO team. Also a three-time letterman in basketball, Chet played with the Economy Royals from 1946-49. The Royals won 23 or 25 games in 1948 and played in the American Basketball Congress National Tournament in that year. For twenty years Mr. Lamb was a pitcher with Richmond Commercial League Softball, winning numerous tournament championships, MVP’s, and sportsmanship awards. Chester also kept score book for the Economy High School basketball teams and coached Rural League Girls’ softball.
