The Board of School Trustees of the Nettle Creek School Corporation met in an academic probation hearing on March 23, 2011.

The academic probation hearing was called to order by Mr. Rhoades at 7:05 p.m. at the elementary school LGI room. Mr. Backmeyer certified compliance with the open meeting law.
Mark Childs presented the reasons why Hagerstown Jr. Sr. High School was placed on academic probation, as well as the steps the school is taking in order to be removed from academic probation status. Mr. Childs answered questions from the board and from patrons in attendance.
There being no other items before the board, Blaase/Keesling moved to adjourn the academic probation hearing at 7:40 p.m. 7/0

The regular meeting of the Board of School Trustees was called to order by Mr. Rhoades at 7:49 p.m. in the elementary school LGI room. Mr. Backmeyer certified compliance with the open meeting law.
Lewis/Hellwarth moved to approve the minutes from the regular meeting on March 9, 2011 and the executive session on March 9, 2011. 7/0
Mason Stevens, 5thgrader, and Hayley Hollenberg, 8th grader, presented their winning DAR essays, “Memoirs of Paul Revere,” to the board.
The following patrons spoke in opposition to the proposed restructuring plan at the elementary school:

Lori Ward addressed some of the concerns regarding how the proposed restructuring plan could affect literacy training for the teachers.
Lora Wilson addressed patron concerns regarding the proposed restructuring plan at the elementary school.
Four written questions were presented to the board by patrons in attendance. The board addressed each one.
Blaase/Lewis made a motion to break at 9:10 p.m. 7/0
The regular meeting reconvened at 9:15 p.m.
Golliher/Lewis moved to approve regular claims #1486 through #1582 totaling $553,781.46 and payroll claims for February 25th and March 11th totaling $451,623.63. 7/0
Mr. Rhoades presented financial reports for February 2011.
Mr. Backmeyer read a statement on the reasons supporting the proposed restructuring plan at the elementary school.
Mr. Keesling presented information regarding how the purpose for school restructuring is implemented through the InSAI process.
Hellwarth/Clark moved to approve the Hagerstown Elementary School staff restructuring plan as presented. Mr. Keesling asked for a roll call vote:

Blaase/Hellwarth moved to approve Staci New as a student teacher at the elementary school. 7/0
Golliher/Blaase moved to approve the revocation of transfer tuition status for an elementary student effective immediately. 7/0
Lewis/Golliher moved to approve the 2011-2012 school calendar as presented. 7/0
