We are committed to supporting students and their families as our youngest students embark upon their life-long journey of learning.

For many, kindergarten is a year of “firsts” – the first time being in a classroom, the first time being away from home on a daily basis, and the first time learning and interacting with peers and teachers.

There are many tools and resources available to help parents prepare their children for kindergarten –  websites, learning apps, community preschool programs – the list goes on!  Reading to your child every day is one of the BEST ways to support your child’s early literacy skills and instill in them a love for learning.

In April of each year, HES hosts a Kindergarten Roundup for parents of children who will enter kindergarten in August. This event will provide parents with the opportunity to register their child for kindergarten and receive information and resources to help ensure a successful start to kindergarten.

Indiana law states that a child must turn five (5) on or before August 1 in order to be eligible for kindergarten.
