School libraries and effective programs are fundamental to developing engaged readers and lifelong learners.

Hagerstown Elementary School supports a library collection that includes a wide selection of books, magazines, and reference books for all grades and reading levels. Students visit the library weekly for the purpose of exchanging books. While at the library, they may have a story read to them or work on library skills. Three computers are housed in the library for information retrieval and Accelerated Reader quizzing. Fall and Spring Book Fairs are held so that our students may experience choosing books they would like to own and include in their personal library collection.
